Miller provides new homes for feathered friends too

27th October 2008 Print
Children from St Gregory's Catholic Primary School in Chorley have a strong interest in ecology. Children at the school took part in a project to make bird boxes that would be used to encourage bird life in the area and at the new Miller Homes' "Birkacre Park" development. On hearing of the schools involvement, Miller Homes invited the children along to see the beautiful setting, where the bird boxes will be located.

The development, which features a wide range of properties, includes 2,3,4 and 5 bedroom homes and 2 bedroom apartments, has achieved Eco-Homes, ‘Very Good' accreditation in the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method [BREEAM]. Land use and ecology is one of the seven elements that ‘Birkacre Park' was assessed on to reach one of the highest levels possible.

Like the children, Miller Homes is also looking to encourage birds and other wildlife. This is part of its commitment to improve the ecological value of the area. Besides birds, Miller Homes is hoping other wildlife will be attracted to this green and wooded location that occupies an elevated position, above a loop of the River Yarrow on the southern edge of Chorley. It is flanked on one side by the popular Yarrow Valley Country Park, on the opposite side by Duxbury Golf Course. At the entrance to the development, Miller Homes has constructed a beautiful new village green and pond feature that already has ducks visiting.

Kay Halls, Miller Homes Sales Manager said: "With individual new homes priced to appeal to the widest variety of home buyers, it is hoped residents, young and old will be able to enjoy the wildlife and countryside at "Birkacre Park", for many years to come."

"Birkacre Park" is located on Burgh Lane South, Chorley PR7 3QQ. For more information, log on to Millerhomes.co.uk.
