Get off to a an easy start with George Wimpey

12th June 2008 Print
George Wimpey has launched an innovative new scheme designed to make it easier for buyers to get on and move up the property ladder by only paying 75% of the price now of their new home. With Easy Start the buyer contributes a 5% deposit and secures a mortgage on the remaining 70% through Halifax.

George Wimpey then steps in by providing a rent and interest-free loan on the remaining 25% of the purchase price for up to ten years. From day one, the purchaser owns 100% of their new home for 75% of the price.

The Easy Start scheme is available on a range of townhouses at the Greenfields Park development in Cambourne near Cambridge. Properties include the three-storey, four-bedroom ‘Hatfield', featuring a light and spacious living room with doors to the rear garden, a kitchen/breakfast room and four well-proportioned bedrooms - one with en-suite facilities and a generous walk-in wardrobe.

Four-bedroom townhouses at Greenfields Park start from £248,995.

"This scheme just couldn't be more straightforward," says Steve Rolt, Regional Sales and Marketing Director. "The purchaser owns 100% of the property from day one and is free to make payments during the 10 year period to suit their individual circumstances - this could mean up to three smaller payments, repaying the total amount early or waiting until the end of the period. We believe that this is just the sort of simple and effective scheme that buyers are looking for at the moment and we're expecting a great deal of interest from savvy buyers."

Cambourne, nine miles west of Cambridge, is a brand new community which will offer amenities all within walking distance of Greenfields Park, including two primary schools and a nursery, a library, a sports centre, playing fields and play areas, a multi-denominational church and a medical centre.

The community is also home to a range of high street shops, a supermarket with petrol filling station, a selection of restaurants, a pharmacy, a drycleaners and a convenience store. The Cambridge Belfry Hotel is a short walk from the development and offers a swimming pool and leisure facilities.

A wider range of amenities can be found in Cambridge city centre, a fifteen-minute drive away. For commuters, the A14 and M11 are within easy reach, while St Neots railway station is seven miles from Cambourne, putting the capital an hour away by train.

As an alternative to Easy Start, George Wimpey's easymover programme provides a range of special incentives on selected properties including support for first time buyers, while customers with a house to sell can reserve their new home and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder helps to find a buyer for their current property.

Incentives can be tailored to homebuyers' circumstances and are subject to availability. Further details are available from the Sales Executive.
