First buyer moves in at Greenfields Park in Cambourne
Happy house-buyer Heather Watts is the first person to move into a brand new home at George Wimpey's Greenfields Park development in Cambourne near Cambridge. The quick-off-the-mark cardiac admin manager for Papworth Hospital chose a four-bedroom ‘Hatfield' townhouse - and having just become the first resident of the 44-home development she's delighted with her new place.
"I was attracted to Greenfields Park by the prices of the new properties," she explains. "And the location, surrounding countryside and easy access to the main road routes is also a big draw for me - work's only a five-minute drive away."
Heather, who has recently moved to the area, enjoys the fact that the new community being created at Cambourne includes its own shops and supermarket, hotel, pubs and community buildings. And she's thrilled with the design of her new home.
"I love the specification and finish, and that the master bedroom is on the top floor and has its own en-suite. I use one of the three other bedrooms as a study, and I have turned the first floor ‘bedroom' into an extra dining room."
The ‘Hatfield' also features a lounge with French doors to a private garden, a kitchen with space for dining, an entrance hallway, and a guest cloakroom. Upstairs, the landing leads to a large second bedroom, the family bathroom and a bedroom/study.
On the top floor there are two further double bedrooms, one with en-suite facilities.
Like all new homes at the development, Heather's property benefits from a high standard specification including gas central heating and double glazing, and a fitted kitchen with oven, hob and hood.
Customers can currently choose from a selection of four-bedroom properties at the development priced from £219,995, while two-bedroom homes start at £168,995, and three-bedroom from £199,995.
Greenfields Park will comprise two, three, four and five-bedroom homes just nine miles west of Cambridge and a range of local amenities including two primary schools and a nursery, a library, a multi-purpose sports centre, playing fields and play areas, a multi-denominational church, and a medical centre.
The Cambridge Belfry Hotel is also a short walk from the development and offers a swimming pool and leisure facilities, while a wider range of amenities can be found in Cambridge city centre, 15 minutes away by road.
For commuters, the A14 is within easy reach, the M11 just a 15-minute drive, while St Neots railway station is seven miles from Cambourne, putting the capital just an hour away by train.
For househunters interested in making their move to the development, George Wimpey's ‘easymover' programme offers a range of special incentives on selected properties including support for first time buyers - while customers with a house to sell can reserve their new home and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder helps to find a buyer for their current property.
Incentives can be tailored to homebuyers' circumstances and are subject to availability. Further details are available from the Sales Executive.
Further information on new homes is available at Greenfields Park Sales Centre, located off Lancaster Way, Cambourne, and open daily from 11am to 5pm.
