George Wimpey goes green-fingered for Girton When Girton Parish Council put out an appeal to add a flash of floral colour to their Cambridgeshire village, George Wimpey South Midlands embraced it as a blooming marvellous idea.

Now the leading housebuilder is supporting Girton's green-fingered council with a donation of £500 towards the purchase of new planters, to be dotted about the village.

Dr Douglas de Lacey, Chairman of Girton Parish Council, says: "As a council we have a long-term planting scheme for Girton, including trees, bedding plants and flowers to ensure the village looks attractive for years to come.

"We're grateful to George Wimpey for its donation, which has purchased 10 planters for the community to enjoy."

Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director for George Wimpey South Midlands, says: "We have a planting scheme for The Quills, our new development of homes at Girton, and so when we heard of the parish council's needs it made perfect sense for us to carry this through for the benefit of the whole village."
