Hampton man goes for milk and returns with a new home

Hampton man goes for milk and returns with a new home When Joe McShane made a trip to the Serpentine Green shopping centre in Hampton, Peterborough, he wasn’t planning on buying a home – but as well as the pint of milk he went in for, he came away with a brand new four-bedroom George Wimpey house.

“While I was there I had look at the new homes at George Wimpey’s Vision development at Hampton Vale,” explains Joe (36), who had been staying in Eastfield Road near the town centre after moving up to Peterborough from Leigh-on-Sea in Essex.

“I was immediately impressed by the style of the ‘Claret’ housetype I chose – I’m from a large family and with four bedrooms it’s got plenty of space when relatives and friends come to stay – and I was also impressed by the good price.

“But as well as getting plenty of home for my money, I received free carpets and chose to upgrade my kitchen, which was fitted for me before I moved in.”

Joe, who is originally from Dublin, loves the location of his new home, which is handy for Peterborough city centre, the A1(M) and fast trains to London King’s Cross.

“The trains from Peterborough take less than an hour to London – about the same amount of time as it takes from Leigh-on-Sea – and it’s only a five-minute drive from Hampton to Peterborough city centre, although for day-to-day needs I don’t need to travel further than the local shops and restaurants at Serpentine Green.”

Just one ‘Claret’ home like the one Joe chose remains for sale at Vision, priced £179,995, and offers delightful accommodation over three floors and comprises a living/dining room with French doors to the rear garden, a well-designed kitchen/breakfast room and a guest cloakroom.

Upstairs, the landing leads to two bedrooms and a main bathroom, while the master bedroom with en-suite facilities and a further bedroom can be found on the top floor. Outside there is a private garden, a parking space and a single garage.

Like all new homes at Vision, the ‘Claret’ enjoys a high standard specification, including gas central heating, double glazing and a kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.

House-hunters can alternatively choose the three-bedroom ‘Scarlet’ priced just £159,995, which is ready to move into straight away, the four-bedroom ‘Azalea’ priced £229,995 and including free flooring, and the five-bedroom ‘Lavender’ at £249,995.

George Wimpey’s easymover programme offers a range of special incentives on selected properties including support for first time buyers, while customers with a house to sell can reserve their new home and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder helps to find a buyer for their current property.

Alternatively, customers can take advantage of George Wimpey’s House 2 Home bespoke moving package comprising free UK removal regardless of distance or size of property, full packing and unpacking service and insurance cover.

Incentives can be tailored to homebuyers’ circumstances and are subject to availability. Further details are available from the Sales Executive.

Hampton Vale is a well-served community on the edge of the Cambridgeshire countryside, yet with easy access to Peterborough city centre and major road and rail networks. London is just 50 minutes from Peterborough by train.

Homes at Vision enjoy a good range of everyday facilities on the doorstep, including a convenience store, hair and beauty salon, dental practice and restaurants and a primary school, while Serpentine Green shopping centre is within easy walking distance and includes a large supermarket, a petrol station, a pharmacy and a wide range of shops and cafes.

A wider selection of shopping, leisure and educational facilities can be found in Peterborough and a regular bus service links Hampton Vale with the city centre.

For leisure time, Ferry Meadows Country Park is just a mile from the development, offering nearly 500 acres of lakes, woodland and riverside walks, bird-watching, golf, water sports, pony rides and boat trips. The park is also home to the Nene Valley Steam Railway and a number of annual events, including a kite-flying festival, a rowing club regatta and wildlife days.

Further information is available by visiting the Sales Centre, located off West Lake Avenue, Hampton Vale, Peterborough and open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5.30pm. More information is also available online at georgewimpey.co.uk.
