George Wimpey site manager has the x-factor

The National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride In The Job competition seeks out the best site managers among hundreds of housing developers across the UK and rewards them for creating quality, beautifully finished homes.
Gareth picked up his second consecutive Quality Award and will now go through to the next phase of judging in the nationwide competition, which is one of the most prestigious in the house-building industry and is a recognised seal of approval for new homebuyers.
Says Gareth: “I’m delighted with the award because NHBC judges place every aspect of the Vision site under very close scrutiny.
“It’s important to recognise that teamwork plays a huge role in the success of any development and everyone at Vision has worked tirelessly to help us get this award two years running.”
Gareth is one of four George Wimpey South Midlands Site Managers to be recognised and the company’s Production Director, John Farley, says: “This is a great achievement and could not have been achieved without the support of everyone within the South Midlands team.”
Judging in the NHBC Pride In The Job Awards begins in July each year and continues for the next 12 months, enabling NHBC inspectors to fully assess a site managers' work over an extended period of time and covers 38 site-management activities.
Judges look for excellence at a number of levels including Health and Safety, Leadership, Consistency, Technical Expertise and ‘The X Factor’ – with an NHBC spokesperson saying: “The competition is intense and NHBC judges admit they have to see something quite special to nominate a site manager for an award.
“From the standard of workmanship, to the welfare of staff, a site manager must get involved with every aspect on site and work to continually to raise the standard.”
