Shilton Park celebrates ten years of success David Wilson Homes Southern recently welcomed the Mayor of Carterton, Councillor P. L. Scott, and other members of the Carterton town council to its exclusive Shilton Park development, to celebrate the completion of almost ten successful years on site.

Sales director for David Wilson Homes Southern, Lynne Morgan, comments:

“Shilton Park has been thoughtfully designed and constructed over the last ten years to create a brand new community on the outskirts of Carterton which boasts a distinct identity of its own.

“We have worked carefully to ensure the development not only offers a wide portfolio of properties which cater to the needs of local purchasers, but that this new community is supported by a unique village infrastructure, which includes a doctors surgery, sports pavilion and pitches, leisure centre, primary school, shops, community centre and public open space.

“As a result, we wanted to invite everybody who had been involved throughout the evolution of the project to Shilton Park, to view the finished product for themselves and to offer our thanks for all of their hard work and support over the last few years in helping to make the development a success.”

Shilton Park comprises over 1400 units including apartments, townhouses, mews homes, semi-detached and detached properties, and features distinctive facades that form attractive and well planned street scenes which sit well within the existing area.

Throughout the formation of the development, David Wilson Homes has continually considered the location’s surroundings to enable the site to blend with and protect the existing local environment. In addition, public open space has been incorporated into the development to provide every housing parcel with a small pocket park or play area. Consequently, residents are able to take advantage of stunning views and countryside walks along the Country Park strip, which comprises a conservation area running adjacent to the site.

Numerous factors have also been included in the design and planning of Shilton Park to establish a friendly environment for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. Traffic calming, including speed reducing surfaces, have been utilised to enable traffic to safely flow throughout the development, whilst pedestrians are able to enjoy safe, lengthy footpaths around the development.

Furthermore, the layout of Shilton Park has been thoughtfully created to enable visitors and residents to navigate their way around with ease. The development’s central point is a primary school and a neighbourhood equipped play area, and the different facades of each building also contribute memorable markers for direction.

Finally, each property at Shilton Park features a flexible design, which allows homeowners to adapt, convert or extend their home as their lifestyle needs change. For example, many properties feature a study, which can easily be transformed into a home office, playroom or hobby room, and selected homes are also generously spread over three floors, often offering a self contained floor, which include a bedroom(s), bathroom and living area, and providing the ideal guest area or teenage den.

Shilton Park is situated just a 20 minute walk away from the centre of Carterton, and within just six miles of Witney, allowing residents easy access to a wide range of facilities such as supermarkets, restaurants and shops. Ideally located, Shilton Park benefits from direct bus routes to Swindon, and close proximity to excellent rail links from Swindon and Oxford stations, which includes direct lines to London.
