Barratt beats Brown by axing stamp duty on houses up to £500,000

Barratt beats Brown by axing stamp duty on houses up to £500,000 The Prime Minister may have boosted homebuyers by announcing that houses worth up to £175,000 will be exempt from Stamp Duty - but Barratt Mercia is going even further by offering to scrap the tax on all its houses up to the value of £500,000.

This effectively means that every Barratt home in the Oxfordshire area is exempt from Stamp Duty because Barratt will pay it on their customers' behalf. Barratt Mercia could also pay your legal fees and moving costs as part of the deal.

Chris Ashmore, Sales Director at Barratt Mercia, said: "When people want to move home Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford to move or not."

"So it is really good news for the housing market that the Government is suspending the tax for a year on properties worth up to £175,000."

"If you decide to buy your new home from Barratt, however, you could effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to £500,000. This is a great incentive for anyone who was thinking of moving home in the near future to do so now and save themselves thousands of pounds."

Homes currently available for Stamp Duty, legal fees and moving costs paid across Oxfordshire include:-
