Bag yourself the ultimate Christmas gift: A new home

19th September 2008 Print
Christmas is coming. So here’s the question we’ve all been asking ourselves. When to buy? We’re not of course talking about toys for the children and soap for your aunt. The deadline there is obvious and makes life nice and simple. No, the big question is, when to buy that new home.

Housebuilder Bellway predicts that the run-up to Christmas could be rather timely. Prices in the housing market appear to be bottoming out and so now could be rather a well-judged moment to snap up a bargain.

Chris Edginton, Sales Director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, says: “If you are selling a home and buying another ‘used’ home, you can probably forget the notion of a pre-Christmas move. But with Bellway’s Part Exchange scheme whereby if you buy one of ours, we’ll buy yours, you could be dreaming not only of a white Christmas but of a new home too. And we have several rather stunning homes ready and waiting. You need to allow around 8 weeks from the day you reserve”.

So, take a look at one of Bellway’s developments, pick the home of your choice and reserve by the end of October. Bellway will do the rest. Then all you have to worry about is where to place the Christmas tree.

Developments where there will be homes ready and waiting for a Christmas move include Meadow View in the village of Ambrosden, Oxfordshire. Currently available are three and four bedroom homes from £249,950. Buyers will have to hurry as there are only 6 homes left on this popular development.

Ambrosden is just 3 miles from Bicester, and is an appealing village that includes a church and village hall, a pub, post office and general store. There are several primary schools within the area, including Five Acres School in Ambrosden, and nearby Bicester Community College and for secondary school children, The Cooper School.

Meadow View boasts excellent road links, the M40 is nearby, and rail links run from Bicester Town station to Oxford while Bicester North has regular services to Birmingham and the London.
