Cow competition an udder success

18th November 2008 Print
Cow competition an udder success A pair of cows has appeared at a new homes development in Banbury, which is co-incidentally located on the site of the town's former cattle market and pupils from Dashwood Primary School, which shares the site, recently went along to name them.

The herd of children aged six and seven moo-ched down to the development, named Moo-ve, initially to learn about what happens on a building site but when they spotted the new animal additions they took the decision that the friendly Friesians needed a name.

Each pupil was asked to choose two names and the winner was pulled randomly from a hat. The names Daisy and Grace where selected, thought up by six-year-old Zara Kennedy-Townsend.

Chris Ashmore, Sales Director for David Wilson commented, "With the recent launch of our new development Moo-ve, this was an ideal opportunity for the children learn hands on, about how new homes are built and the dangers of a building site. Dashwood is an important part of this emerging new community which combined with the new homes and sports facilities has helped regenerate the site, previously left derelict for 11 years.

"The last thing the children expected to see when they arrived was a couple of cows grazing in front of the sales office but this certainly gave a visit another educational opportunity!"

Eileen Hartwell, Teaching Assistant at Dashwood Primary School commented, "The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the new development which we have watched emerge since we moved to our new premises in the summer. It was an important for them to be made aware of the dangers as well as the benefits of housebuilding, plus they were all extremely excited about having the chance to name the cows!"

Moo-ve is located on Merton Street within walking distance of Banbury town centre and its shops and amenities such as the Castle Quay shopping centre. It forms part of the regeneration of the former Midlands Livestock Mart, once Europe's largest cattle market. In addition to the homes, there is a new primary school, Dashwood, play areas, public open spaces, bus links and a public footpath leading to the railway station which offers regular links to London Marylebone.

Prices for two-bedroom homes at Moo-ve start from £158,000. For further information log on to Dwh.co.uk.
