Time runs out for big discounts as new homes stock hits record low

1st December 2008 Print
Once in a generation discounts on new Barratt homes across its Mercia division are set to end within weeks because the housebuilder has sold all but 50 of its stock homes during a highly successful autumn marketing drive. Barratt Mercia has sold 130 homes across the division since September, during a period when pundits were writing obituaries for the housing market.

But now visitor levels are higher than last year - with 499 people visiting Barratt Mercia sites in the last three months. It means that the big discounts which buyers can now take advantage of will soon become a thing of the past.

"People who want a new home have worked out that there will never be a better time to buy," said Chris Ashmore, Sales Director at Barratt Mercia.

"More and more people are cottoning on to this and the number of potential customers visiting our sites is actually higher than it was 12 months ago. We've had 499 visitors in the last three months alone."

"While bargain hunters seem to be out in force, supply is going down. We sold 130 homes during the autumn selling season and now only have 50 left across all sites in the division."

"Time is running out on the once in a generation deals which we've been offering homebuyers in the last few weeks. We just won't have the level of stock left to sell."
