Moo-ve on down to the festive farmer's market

1st December 2008 Print
This year, two special festive friesians will be paying a visit to Banbury's Christmas Farmer's Market on Friday, 5th December, when David Wilson Mercia sponsors the popular event.

Daisy and Grace are the two life-size fibreglass cows which live at the front of the housebuilder's Moo-ve development on Merton Street. They will make their inaugural appearance at the market, opening from 8.30am until 1.30pm. The Thames Valley Farmer's Market Co-Operative event will feature local producers selling fresh beef, lamb, pork, venison, fish, poultry, fruit and vegetables, bread, plants, pottery, amongst many more quality goods.

Visitors from far and wide come to the event, which is held throughout the year at the Market Place in Banbury. December 5th will be no different, offering the chance to stock up on locally farmed, fresh produce in time for the Christmas feasting. And to satisfy hungry appetites on the day, there will also be a traditional pig roast.

Representatives from David Wilson Mercia's Moo-ve development will be on hand to provide information about the regeneration of the site, including the community facilities and homes available at the development.

Chris Ashmore, Sales Director for David Wilson Mercia, said, "Sponsoring Banbury's Christmas Farmer's Market is hugely important to us, as it means we are supporting an integral and valuable part of the culture and livelihood of the local community. Good, locally sourced, quality produce is often hard to find these days, so it is great that English farming still has a key role to play in the area and it needs to stay that way to keep the industry thriving.

"The Moo-ve development has regenerated the former cattle market site which was left derelict for 11 years, but it is close to the new Farmer's Market, so it would be great to see the local community at this event."

The development is within walking distance of Banbury town centre's shops and amenities, such as the Castle Quay shopping centre. It also forms part of the regeneration of the former Midlands Livestock Mart, once Europe's largest cattle market. In addition to the homes, there is a new primary school, Dashwood, play areas, public open spaces, bus links and a public footpath leading to the railway station, which offers regular links to London Marylebone.

Prices for two-bedroom homes at Moo-ve start from £158,000. For further information, log on to Dwh.co.uk.
