Kitted out for the big time

Kitted out for the big time Youngsters from St Leonard's Primary School in Banbury are kitted out with a strip fit for top flight football thanks to sponsorship from David Wilson Mercia. The school's football team was in desperate need of a new kit, so its brand new red strip with the school's and housebuilder's name emblazoned on the front came as an exciting change.

The squad, which is made up of pupils from years three to six, has already had its first two matches in the new kit and has won one, lost one so far.

St Leonard's play against other teams from Banbury Partnership Schools - they each have a home and an away match and compete for the cup at the end of each season. And the team is hoping for some big wins this season after having a new kit as well as goalposts recently purchased by the school for the astro turf and grass pitches.

Headteacher, Sally Godden, said, "The whole team look so smart now when they are on the pitch and the school logo looks great in black against the red strip. Before, we were struggling for the right sizes and bits had gone missing, but now it is tailor made for the ages we have within the squad.

"David Wilson's sponsorship for the kit has really helped to revitalize our football equipment which was looking quite tired and sad. It is great to see its involvement with the local community and rest assured the whole team has been boosted by it."

Chris Ashmore, Sales Director for David Wilson Mercia, said, "It was great to be able to help out St Leonard's football team with the sponsorship. It is so important to give youngsters real encouragement to get outside and play sport as they learn to keep fit and healthy from a young age and develop important friendships and skills in teamwork."

David Wilson Mercia offers its Moo-ve development based on Merton Street in Banbury, within walking distance of the town centre's shops and amenities, such as Castle Quay shopping centre. It also forms part of the regeneration of the former Midlands Livestock Mart, once Europe's largest cattle market. In addition to the homes, there are play areas, public open spaces, bus links and a public footpath leading to the railway station, which offers regular links to London Marylebone.

Prices for two-bedroom homes at Moo-ve start from £158,000. For further information, log on to Dwh.co.uk.
