Green light for Charles Church site in historic old Portsmouth

14th February 2007 Print
Housebuilder of distinction Charles Church Southern has received detailed planning permission on a brownfield site in Broad Street, Portsmouth for residential redevelopment.

The site is situated in one of the historic areas of Old Portsmouth, close to the sea wall and the Harbour. The undistinguished buildings presently on the site were formerly used to house buses and trams, will be cleared to make way for 25 high specification two and three bedroom apartments and 4 bedroom, four storey townhouses. All of which will strike a contemporary note whilst respecting the architectural traditions of the area.

With a heritage of over 40 years, Charles Church’s particular brand of homes is not unfamiliar to Hampshire, with numerous highly-successful developments in the past being built at locations including Lee-on-the-Solent and Horndean, and currently at Lindford and at Elvetham Heath in Fleet.

With its proximity to Gunwharf Quays and ease of access to Portsmouth’s superb transport connections, the combination of outstanding location and Charles Church’s distinctive style of homes is expected to stimulate considerable levels of interest. Charles Church are looking to establish a sales presence later this year with first completion for 2008. For further information, visit charleschurch.com.
