New HQ move means growth for Barratt Southampton

Speaking at the launch party attended by land agents, suppliers and business associates, managing director Ian Wallace said that the move was a clear indication that Barratt Southampton was preparing to deliver an ambitious strategy.
“Nationally it has been an excellent year for us,” he said. “The acquisition by Barratt of David Wilson Homes has been a major success and year end in June saw more than 15,500 completions across the country, from the Barratt company alone.
Both companies are showing a strong forward sales position with Barratt showing an increase of 20% ahead of June 2006 and David Wilson Homes at 4%.
“Locally the Southampton division, which employs more than 600 people directly or indirectly, has gone from strength to strength and we achieved budget on all fronts. Going forward we will be bringing some excellent sites on stream and our land bank is very strong.”
Barratt Southampton’s new headquarters was officially opened by Bernie Topham, the chief executive of Eastleigh Borough Council. She said: “We are delighted to see companies like Barratt committed to our area. A thriving commercial sector is vital for jobs and general prosperity.”
The Southampton division operates throughout Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, Southern Wiltshire and West Sussex. In 2005/2006 it completed 650 homes and Barratt Southampton has an approved growth plan that is targeted to increase production to 900 homes per annum by 2009.
