University sweethearts get a good deal in Basingstoke

University sweethearts get a good deal in Basingstoke University sweethearts Marc Wheeler and Gina Bartle, both 22, are buying a duplex apartment in Berkeley Homes’ landmark Skyline Plaza nineteen storey development at Basingstoke.

“It’s exactly what we wanted, at a price we could afford. Skyline Plaza was by far the best we saw,” says Gina. “We made up our minds to buy a place of our own once we finished our degrees. I work here and we know Basingstoke really well. It’s a great place to live.”

Gina and Marc both have full time jobs in the IT industry. Marc has to drive to work near London so easy access to the nearby M3 motorway was vital.

Currently living with their parents on the outskirts of Basingstoke, they had looked at a number of new developments nearby built within the last five years. But it was the two storey duplex penthouse at Skyline Plaza covering the 6th and 7th floors, which won them over.

The renowned Berkeley Homes specification features a designer-fitted kitchen, and bathrooms with contemporary white Twyford Galerie Plan suites, Hansgrohe fittings and luxury thermostatically controlled showers, all with busy young professionals in mind. The duplex is wired for Sky TV, with multi-room links, perfect for relaxing in front of the TV after a long day at work. The laundrette and concierge service is also ideal for those at work all day.

The couple move into the apartment in May this year, which gives them time to get all their finances and furnishings organised. The timescale also means that they get to personalise their home choosing the kitchen and tiles, something they see as a real bonus.

Renaissance Basingstoke now offers excellent local amenities. A mere step or two leads Skyline Plaza residents to Festival Place’s 165 shops and 28 restaurants, bars and cafés. Entertainment buffs and health enthusiasts are served by a 10-screen cinema and a sports centre.

Skyline Plaza has great transport links; the mainline station to London is within two minutes walk where London Waterloo can be reached in 44 minutes. Reading and Southampton are easily accessible by rail while the M3, leading to London and the major south coast ports of Southampton and Portsmouth, is at the southern edge of the town. To the west the A34 provides good access to the North.

The marketing suite for the Skyline Plaza scheme features four show apartments that are open daily from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Prices start at £116,000.
