First time buyers get a ‘Head Start'

The Head Start scheme has been specifically designed to help first time buyers secure their dream home first time around, by allowing them to pay just 85 per cent of the purchase price of their property with no deposit.

Sales director for David Wilson Homes Southern, Lynne Morgan explains: "It is always a big decision to make that first step onto the property ladder and many first time purchasers find the thought of saving for a deposit or mortgage payments a bit daunting, which is why we have launched the Head Start scheme.

The new scheme is simple; purchasers take out a mortgage for only 85 per cent of the value of their home, while David Wilson Homes provides an interest free loan to cover the other 15 per cent.

The deferred amount is then paid back as 15 per cent of the property's open market value, either within 10 years of purchase or at the time of re-sale if this is earlier than 10 years.
