Twelve acres of pure history

1st July 2008 Print
Twelve acres of pure history Homebuyers can combine searching for that perfect property with indulging in a piece of history, thanks to a unique new marketing suite in Farnborough.

Lining the walls of the new sales centre are historical aviation images from as early as the 1900s. The fascinating pictures highlight the site's rich history as a former Royal Aircraft Establishment, in use from the 1900s until 1999.

On visiting the suite, potential home buyers can now visualise the site's future thanks to computer-generated images and plans of the finished development.

Also bringing the development to life are two purpose built show homes. These allow buyers to experience first hand the lifestyle that's waiting to be enjoyed in these beautifully decorated and furnished homes.

Redrow's chosen interior designers have given a two-bedroom apartment a stylish art-deco look that's sympathetic to the architecture of the existing buildings on site and would suit the profile of a young couple looking for a new home, while they've transformed a three-bedroom house into a vibrant and contemporary property that's ideal for a family.

The 12-acre development, Farnborough Central, will eventually feature a mix of 85 refurbished apartments, in two existing buildings of historic interest, plus 194 new-build apartments and 54 new townhouses that will be sympathetically designed with art deco and modernist influences.

Tina Chalk, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Southern), said: "Buying a new property can be daunting, whether it's your first home or not. Our new marketing suite helps make everything that little bit easier - buyers can see exactly what the finished development will look like, pick up individual home layouts, read literature about mortgages and other financial advice and speak with fully trained Redrow staff.

"The Farnborough Central development is being built on a site with great historical significance, and that obviously appeals to people looking for something a bit different from their new home."

The one and two-bedroom conversion apartments have been designed with a contemporary edge. They all have fully integrated kitchens, with Electrolux and Zanussi appliances, and the bathrooms come with fitted furniture, down lighters and chrome heated towel rails.

Prices at Farnborough Central currently start from £185,500 for an apartment, £260,000 for a three-bedroom house and £315,000 for a four-bedroom house.

Redrow has introduced a number of measures to help homebuyers under the umbrella of ‘re:assure from Redrow', which are all designed to give buyers confidence and to help get them moving in the current housing market. The package includes measures to help people sell their current property at the best possible price, or could include help with the monthly mortgage repayments for the first year or two.

To find out more, or to view the new show homes, visit Farnborough Central's marketing suite, off Fowler Avenue, Farnborough. Alternatively log on to Redrow.co.uk for further details.
