Barratt sponsors tumbler in Basingstoke Barratt Southern Counties has shown its support for local athletes by sponsoring Alex Rawson, a 15-year old tumbler from Basingstoke Gymnastic Club, which has training facilities just two miles away from Barratt's Highfields development. "Tumbling is hard work - we train every evening during the week and also on Saturday mornings - but participating in competitions both in Britain and overseas makes it all worthwhile. I have only been tumbling for 18 months, but I have already achieved a silver medal in an international competition in Poland. I am in the National Squad and, later this year, will be representing Great Britain in both Portugal and Russia," said Alex.

"The £500 from Barratt will be going towards my travel costs for international competitions and equipment for the club."

Basingstoke Gymnastic Club was formed in 1971 with an initial membership of only 20 gymnasts. In 2006, it moved to the Active Life Centre, in Basingstoke, to become one of the largest clubs in the south of England.

"We are very pleased to be sponsoring Alex Rawson. We think he is an absolute inspiration for up and coming young athletes," comments Lynnette St Quintin, sales director of Barratt Southern Counties, "With the Aquadrome, Leisure Park and Active Life Centre, Basingstoke is a great town for those interested in sports and Highfields is ideally located for all these facilities."

Barratt is the UK's leading homebuilder and Highfields, in Basingstoke, is Barratt at its best: 300 well-built, traditional family homes designed with the 21st century household in mind. The 30-acre site, on Old Kempshott Lane, is surrounded by the open reaches of the North Wessex Downs, a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Vernacular architecture complements the pleasingly pastoral landscape of streets, squares and avenues.

By merging high quality homes with high quality customer service, Barratt has made both choosing a new home and moving in as stress-free as possible. By offering an exceptional 100 per cent home exchange package and free removals, Barratt is providing help for all those who choose this development to be their new home. Barratt will value your home and agree an acceptable sale price, then assume the responsibility of selling your home; Barratt will even organise and pay for the Home Information Pack (HIP), by obtaining copies of planning permissions and arranging for the compulsory energy performance certificate.

Alternatively, first time buyers and key workers can purchase their own home for only 50 per cent of the price with ‘My Choice HomeBuy.' This government-funded home ownership scheme supplies an equity loan for as much as 50 per cent of the property's value. Barratt will also contribute £1,500 towards moving costs, including solicitors' fees and stamp duty.

Basingstoke is fast developing a reputation as an ideal location for first time home buyers, with some properties up to 15 per cent cheaper than comparable properties in Reading and similar towns.

Regular services from Basingstoke Station reach London Waterloo in approximately 47 minutes. Southampton, on the Hampshire coastline, is around 30 minutes away by train. The M3 is easily accessible from the southern edge of the town, while the A34 is accessible from the west.

Two, three and four-bedroom houses and townhouses are available from £234,500. For further information, log on to barrattathighfields.co.uk.
