Success at Skyline Plaza reflects strength of rental market

4th August 2008 Print
The health of the property market may be the subject of much media comment and public debate but Skyline Plaza in Basingstoke by Berkeley Homes is proving that the right property in the right location remains attractive. The evidence comes from the rental market, where demand for apartments in the landmark development is flourishing. Phase 1 at Skyline Plaza is already over 85 per cent sold.

"We are receiving high volumes of enquiries from tenants specifically requesting Skyline Plaza," records Ben Biggs, Lettings Consultant at Romans, Basingstoke.

"We would strongly recommend any potential landlords to explore Skyline Plaza, as we have good quality tenants waiting to secure all styles of apartment on this popular development."

Skyline Plaza is especially appealing to tenants due to its modern contemporary design, high quality build and close proximity to the town centre and station.

The rental market comprises young professional couples, often working in central Basingstoke or the City, hailing from across the UK and from abroad. Basingstoke itself has one of the UK's lowest unemployment records at just 1.1 per cent* and is a vibrant hub for both business and leisure. Basingstoke boasts one of the highest economic activity rates in the UK; a number of well-known national and international companies have their headquarters or regional offices in the town.

Skyline Plaza is the imaginative conversion by Berkeley Homes of the former IBM Headquarters office building into a high quality residential complex. The 225 stunning private apartments range from studios and ‘Manhattan' suites, through one and two-bedroom apartments to duplex penthouses with glorious views on the 18th and 19th floors. A concierge service, launderette and crèche will be on site once the development is fully completed.

Berkeley Homes is renowned for the quality of its developments and Skyline Plaza is no exception. All apartments include fully-fitted kitchens and bathrooms, and all are pre- wired for Sky+ with multi-room links.

Skyline Plaza is popular because of its central location in Basingstoke which boasts excellent communication links. Basingstoke Station is within easy walking distance, providing fast trains to London Waterloo in approximately 44 minutes. Reading and Southampton are also easily accessible by rail, while the M3, leading to London and the major south coast ports of Southampton and Portsmouth, is at the southern edge of the town. To the west, the A34 provides good access to the North and the M4.

The marketing suite for the Skyline Plaza scheme features four show apartments that are open daily from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Prices range from £105,000 to £189,000.
