Contemporary homes with an historic twist

Contemporary homes with an historic twist The good news for the 60% of homebuyers who said they prefer a converted building to a purpose built house or apartment is that there are still stylish conversion properties available at Redrow's Farnborough Central development.

Previous research by propertyfinder.com found that old buildings given a new lease of life appeal to many homebuyers looking for ‘something a bit different' - and, for the 40% who still prefer purpose built homes, Redrow has a superb choice of new build houses at the venture too.

The award-winning housebuilder has just completed the stunning refurbishment of the first of two former MoD buildings on the site of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, providing buyers with a unique setting for their new home in an area that has a rich aviation history.

The survey also found that people's preferred conversion type changed with age, with older people preferring renovated churches and barns and younger buyers more likely to opt for a trendy warehouse refurbishment. But one finding was certain - that there is strong demand for these ‘out of the ordinary' properties from people from all walks of life.

Holly Finer, area sales manager for Redrow Homes, said: "It's no surprise to us that conversion properties are highly thought of amongst homebuyers. Our Farnborough Central development is bound to fascinate aviation buffs and those in search of a modern new home with an historic twist.

"The one and two-bedroom conversion apartments have been designed with a contemporary edge. They all have fully integrated kitchens, with Electrolux and Zanussi appliances, and the bathrooms come with fitted furniture, down lighters and chrome heated towel rails.

"We now have two show apartments open in the converted building, which epitomise chic modern living. Home buyers can also look round a new build show apartment and townhouse, which have also been decorated and furnished to exacting standards by of talented team of professional interior designers.

Farnborough Central is located just outside the town centre of Farnborough, Hampshire. It is within easy commuting distance to London and situated around two miles from the nearest train station, which provides direct services to the capital in less than 40 minutes. It is also perfectly located for access to the surrounding towns and less than three miles from the M3 motorway.

Holly added: "Farnborough Central is an outstanding venture that encapsulates the essence of modern life yet is surrounded by heritage. The apartments are chic and contemporary - yet affordable and accessible to a range of homebuyers, enabling many to live within easy access of the capital, without paying capital price-tags."

Prices at Farnborough Central currently start from £169,000 for an apartment, from £260,000 for a three-bedroom house and £315,000 for a four-bedroom house.
