Contemporary houses ‘flying high' in Farnborough

The 12-acre development, Farnborough Central, will eventually feature a mix of 54 new houses, 85 refurbished apartments in two existing buildings of historic interest, plus 194 new-build apartments that will be sympathetically designed with art deco and modernist influences.
Holly Finer, area sales manager for Redrow Homes said: "The houses have been designed with modern life in mind and we have a range of contemporary designs available at Farnborough Central to suit many types of homes buyer from professionals to families.
"Spread out over three floors, the four-bedroom ‘Hawker' houses offer a flexible living space, which buyers can adapt to suit their own needs. It has a light and airy, open plan living and dining area on the ground floor, with separate kitchen and cloak room. The first floor is home to a master bedroom, with built in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom, and another bedroom while a family bathroom and two further good-sized bedrooms, one with en-suite, are situated on the top floor.
"We also have the three-bedroom ‘Insall' and ‘Liddell' homes on sale, which are more traditionally designed over two floors but still provide plenty of living space. In each property the ground floor has a spacious open plan living and dining room, with French doors, along with a well-equipped kitchen, downstairs cloakroom and hallway. The first floorhas a master bedroom, with en-suite and fitted wardrobes, family bathroom and two further bedrooms.
"Our Farnborough Central development is being built on a site with great historical significance and that obviously appeals to people looking for something a bit different from their new home."
The wider site formerly comprised the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) and continues to be the home for the world famous Farnborough Aerodrome and the biennial Farnborough International Airshow, which attracts around 300,000 visitors every two years and celebrated its 60th anniversary in July this year.
IQ Farnborough, next to the residential area, is one of the largest business development sites in the south east of England. As well as over 200,000 sq ft of built office space it will include a café, crèche, heritage centre and four-star hotel, with leisure complex.
Redrow's homes will be adjacent to the ‘heritage quarter' and alongside two of the most interesting aeronautical legacies of the former RAE - a pair of Grade 1 listed wind tunnel buildings. The largest, a 24 ft wind tunnel, was used to test full-sized aircraft prototypes, while the transonic wind tunnel was used to test aircraft including Concorde. These buildings are being retained and restored by Segro (Slough Estates Group), who are developing commercial property nearby.
Prices at Farnborough Central currently start from £199,950 for a two-bedroom apartment, from £234,950 for a three-bedroom home and £284,950 for a four-bedroom townhouse.
Redrow has introduced a number of measures to help homebuyers under the umbrella of ‘re:assure from Redrow', which are all designed to make moving as easy as possible right through from the moment of first enquiry to after the customer has moved in. The package includes measures to help people sell their current property at the best possible price.
