Folk tradition comes to Four Marks

27th April 2009 Print
Folk tradition comes to Four Marks Visitors to Meadowbrook, Barratt’s popular development in the historic village of Four Marks in Hampshire, will be able to enjoy the English folk tradition of Morris Dancing on Saturday 9th May.

“A new group of Morris Dancer has been formed in Four Marks and we thought it would be nice for them to entertain prospective buyers,” reports Mark Docherty, Barratt sales director.

“This age old tradition of dancing dates back to Tudor times and is usually associated with May Day and the coming of spring. It has been an established part of English summer revelries for centuries.

“Barratt is committed to supporting the local community and the event will give the dancers some practice. It will also be entertaining for people who are viewing the new homes here. The dancers will perform for an hour, from 12 noon.”

Meadowbrook offers 117 new homes, a selection of two-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses. Current availability includes a selection of four and five-bedroom family houses, with prices starting from £322,995.

“Part exchange is available for buyers moving up to a larger property,” Mark continued. ““This package is specially designed to make a move as stress free as possible. It removes all the uncertainty, because Barratt is a guaranteed cash buyer - so there is no chain, no last-minute price haggling and no hidden costs - and we also cover the cost of HIPs.”

Although enjoying a village location, Meadowbrook is ideally situated for commuting as there are regular services between Alton and Alresford from Four Marks railway station. The cities of Winchester, Portsmouth and Southampton are within easy reach, and the M3 offers a direct route to London and the south west.

Four Marks offers a number of amenities – including nurseries, a church, post office, pub, restaurant and several shops. The nearby picturesque town of Alton was once home to one of England’s best loved writers, Jane Austen.
