Basingstoke apartments have broad appeal

While the price is certainly right – with apartments starting from just £104,995 – the extensive range of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are selling to first-time buyers, young families seeking more space and those with grown-up children now looking to downsize from a larger property.
The studio design, for example, comprises a superb open-plan living room with kitchen, separate shower room and storage closets, while the alternative styles offer one or two separate bedrooms off the entrance hallway and a full bathroom.
Like all new properties at the development, the ‘Jade’ apartments enjoy a high standard specification including gas central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood.
First-time buyers can actually purchase a one-bedroom ‘Jade’ from £73,496* gaining that all-important first step into property ownership by taking advantage of the new HomeBuy Direct initiative which enables them to pick up a new home for just 70% of the full market price.
Qualifying customers with a household income of less than £60,000 can receive an equity loan covering up to 30% of the value of a property – which is interest-free for the first five years and can be paid off in instalments at any stage after the first 12 months.
HomeBuy Direct is co-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and George Wimpey and is available on a limited number of apartments at Marnel Park.
Tim Betts, George Wimpey’s Regional Sales and Marketing Director, said: “House prices during May experienced their biggest rise in seven years which is a very strong indication that now is the ideal time to buy.
“The ‘Jade’ apartments represent fantastic value and provide the opportunity to live in a high-quality, maintenance-free new home.
“Although mortgage interest rates are low we still appreciate that the market is challenging for first-time buyers and the HomeBuy Direct initiative gives first-time buyers a genuine chance to get on the property ladder.”
Marnel Park, based on the northern edge of Basingstoke, is just a 10-minute drive from the centre of town, while having easy access to the countryside.
