Double celebration for first time buyer in Eastleigh

First-time buyer Jack Evans had a double reason to celebrate at the end of June, when he received the go-ahead to move into his new apartment at Twyford Square, Barratt’s popular development in Eastleigh.

“I heard that my purchase had been successfully completed on the day I was graduating from the College of Air Traffic Control at Hurn near Bournemouth,” said Jack (23).

“It was great news for me, as I needed to move into my new home on the day I left college. The sales negotiator, Chris, had back-up plans in case we didn’t complete on time, but everything worked out well in the end.”

Jack bought a one-bedroom apartment through Barratt’s Dream Start deal. With Dream Start, first-time buyers only need to secure a mortgage for 75 per cent of the asking price and there is no deposit. The other 25 per cent is covered by Barratt and repayable interest free, either within 10 years or on the resale of the property.

“Dream Start helped me get a foot on the property ladder and I think it’s a great scheme for new buyers,” Jack continued. “I have a lovely new home and most of my neighbours are around my age and very friendly – it’s a bit like living in halls of residence as there are lots of social get-togethers and I’m making new friends.

“I’m now based at the Air Traffic Services Control Centre in Swanwick, which deals with flights into airports around London,” he added. “Twyford Square is perfectly located for commuting to work, as I can avoid travelling through Southampton city centre. I can also get to Bournemouth quickly which is great, because I still have college friends there.”

Twyford Square offers a selection of apartments and prices start from £95,995 for one-bedroom homes and from £127,995 for two-bedroom properties. The development is located off Twyford Road and lies adjacent to the River Itchen. The nearby M3 offers easy access to the south coast and London.

Eastleigh’s Swan shopping centre, with its bars and restaurants, is within walking distance. It is only a short rail or bus ride into Southampton city centre, which boasts the West Quay Shopping Centre and the Leisure World multiplex cinema and nightclubs.
