False bomb threat on KLM flight from Aruba

29th April 2008 Print
During the boarding of flight KL0734 from Aruba Airport Reina Beatrix to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on April 24 at around 21:00 local time, one of the passengers told fellow passengers that he had placed a bomb in one of the onboard toilets. This was reported to the captain, whereupon the passenger in question was immediately arrested and removed from the aircraft, along with his baggage.

All security procedures were subsequently carried out, and the authorities were informed. The passengers left the aircraft and were informed about the incident. Local security officials then inspected the aircraft with detectors to check whether there was a bomb on board. However, it proved to be a false threat. The flight subsequently set off to Amsterdam after a delay of approximately 3.5 hours.
