On commencement of its 2009 summer schedule, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines plans to launch a new service between Amsterdam and Liverpool. KLM’s extensive network will seamlessly connect Liverpool with over a hundred destinations worldwide.

Liverpool is a most interesting destination for business and leisure travellers alike. In terms of business, the city has developed strongly in recent years. Liverpool is one of the United Kingdom’s fastest growing cities, is located in the fourth largest urban region of the UK and it is Europe’s cultural capital for 2008.

In these turbulent economic times, KLM continues to reinforce its hub in Europe. Pieter Elbers, Senior Vice President Network at KLM: “Being the only major network carrier to include Liverpool in its network, KLM further strengthens its position in the UK, one of the most important markets in the extensive network of KLM.”

Effective 29 March 2009, KLM cityhopper will operate the new scheduled service using Fokker 70 equipment. With three daily services, the market is well served, both for local as well as connecting traffic. Liverpool will be KLM’s fifteenth destination in the UK.
