Marcel Wanders designs new tableware for KLM

Towards the end of next year, KLM passengers in World Business Class will be served meals on tableware designed by Marcel Wanders, one of the Netherlands’ leading designers.

KLM wants to distinguish itself and meet the needs of customers, regardless of the current economic circumstances. “KLM will keep investing in its customers and wants to emphasize this by collaborating with Marcel Wanders, a top-class designer with international prestige,” explains Bart Vos, Executive Vice President of KLM Inflight Services. “His progressive designs tie in perfectly with the inspirational journey we promise our passengers.

In addition to tableware, Marcel Wanders also designed cutlery, glasses, table linen and serving trays. “Designing the tableware and cutlery for KLM is a dream come true, something I’ve cherished for the past 20 years,” says Marcel Wanders. “My designs are refreshing and a joy to use. They reflect the rich past of KLM and give a new, surprising vision for the future.”

Marcel Wanders completed his studies with distinction at the Arnhem Academy of Arts in 1988. In 1996, he designed the ‘Knotted Chair’, which earned him international acclaim. Marcel Wanders’ studio designs products and interiors for leading brands worldwide.
