Responsible snacking on board KLM

9th September 2009 Print
Fair Trade chocolate is now available for KLM passengers on board. KLM strives to be at the forefront of corporate social responsibility and the idea of having ‘honest’ chocolate on board came from one of KLM’s cabin crew.

“We are carrying more and more sustainable and responsible products on board, and the Verkade chocolate bars really fit within this product range”, explains flight attendant Maaike Carli-Yang. When she wrote to management about the Fair Trade chocolate, the ball started rolling. KLM was already serving ‘honest’ coffee and sustainably caught fish on board.

Another first is the sale of The Body Shop products on board. A complete travel kit, the Plane Travel Needs, became part of KLM’s tax free collection. The kit contains shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, shower gel, foot cream and lip butter – all in handy reusable travel sized packaging made from recycled materials. EUR 19 will get you this exclusive treat.

The Body Shop uses only natural ingredients in all its products, which are never tested on animals. Furthermore, The Body Shop supports local communities, human rights and nature throughout its supply and production chain.
