KLM starts tour through Europe

22nd September 2009 Print
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is organising an autumn tour through Europe in a customised truck. KLM will be using this ‘Tour of Inspiration’ surrounding its 90th anniversary to present its broad range of products and services to the public in 30 European cities.

On September 18, Peter Hartman, president and CEO of KLM, officially got the tour started at Schiphol Airport. The tour is specifically aimed at promoting the KLM brand throughout Europe. KLM establishments in the 30 European cities will be organising local events for their key accounts to coincide with the trucks visit. This will enable them to present KLM’s complete range of products and services to their most important markets. The tour makes its first stop in Billund, Denmark, and ends in Munich on 7 November.

Erik Varwijk, Executive Vice President Commercial at KLM, sheds some light on the ‘Tour of Inspiration’: “Especially at a time like this, facing challenging economic times, it is important that our customers experience both our European and intercontinental products. This tour provides a brilliant way to put KLM on the map in no uncertain terms.”

KLM will compensate for the bus’ CO2 emissions through its CO2ZERO programme. The trucks CO2 emissions were calculated in advance based on the number of kilometres to be covered.
