Zambian safari camp opens luxury private suite

22nd October 2008 Print

Zambian safari operator Chongwe River Camp has recently opened a new, luxurious private suite. The Cassia Suite is a custom-designed exclusive retreat for two on the confluence of the Zambezi and Chongwe Rivers.

Chongwe has always offered exceptional game viewing, professional guiding and the setting of the majestic Zambezi River. Now guests can enjoy this along with the exclusivity and privacy of this intriguing tented suite.

Built in the same style as the larger Albida Suite and Chongwe River House, Cassia is designed as an octagonal tent, with windows on seven sides, which may be rolled up during the day. The adjoining bathroom has a canvas roof with double basin, shower and free standing bath with organic “ferro” walling interspersed with natural wood allowing privacy but also a feeling of al fresco bathing.

The suite also has the benefits of a lounge and private pool set at the edge of the river, ideal for relaxing. A dining area allows meals and drinks to be taken in the suite or the main camp.

For visitors to Chongwe, game viewing can be on foot, by boat or by game drive vehicle and the Lower Zambezi offers unparalleled fishing for tiger fish. There are no fences at Chongwe and the game roams free so guests don’t even need to leave the camp to enjoy a procession of animals and over three hundred species of bird.
