Gastronomic festivities on Mauritius

To mark the 10th anniversary of Alain Ducasse’s ‘Spoon des Iles’ restaurant at the One & Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius, Bailey Robinson is offering visitors the chance to meet the chef and join the culinary celebrations, saving £645 per person on a seven-night trip.

The gastronomic festivities include the ‘10 Years, 10 Dishes, 10 Wines’ experience highlighting Ducasse’s personal food and wine combinations that have defined the restaurant over this period. This experience also includes;

- a private cooking lesson with Spoon’s head chef Romain Meder
- lunch with a glass of wine, recipes, cooking hat and apron
- dinner at Spoon des Iles (exclusive of beverages)
- a ‘Spoon des Iles on the Beach’ lunch box
- a Spoon cookbook signed by Alain Ducasse

Ducasse will be in residence heading up the celebrations from 6th- 8th December at which time guests will have the rare opportunity of catching this Michelin-starred master in action. The celebrations culminate in a spectacular gala dinner with guests feasting on specially created dishes such as Mauritian palm heart ceviche and Lapsang Souchong Soup matched with wines carefully chosen by the resort’s sommelier, Jerome Lucas.

Originally opened in 1975 and remodelled in 1999, One & Only Le Saint Géran is famed for its relaxed and discreet luxury. The private balconied rooms all face the Indian Ocean with immaculate gardens running down to the edge of the coral-sand beach. The sheltered lagoon provides calm waters for an array of water sports whilst the 9-hole Gary Player golf course situated in the resort's grounds has its own Golf Academy and clubhouse. Immortalised in Bernardin de Saint Pierre’s novel ‘Paul et Virginie,’ the resort’s peninsula is near the site of Le Saint Géran shipwreck.
