Racing success for Ford’s RS road car technology

In a case of technology transfer in reverse, Ford Team RS has seen its 'Revoknuckle' front suspension system taken from the road to the race track, where it has been driven to podium success by British Touring Car Championship independent, Team Aon.

The Revoknuckle suspension system was developed for the new Ford Focus RS, one of the most powerful and dynamically advanced front-wheel drive performance road cars ever sold. Its innovative design modifies the MacPherson strut front suspension arrangement, to allow high power and torque to be handled by the front wheels, while minimising torque steer.

So effective is the Revoknuckle that BTCC Team Aon have recorded a pole position and three podium finishes in the debut season for their twin Ford Focus ST racers.

Commenting on the new developments, Team Aon driver, Tom Chilton, said: “The car is fantastic to drive, and where competition is so close, it's important to look for every advantage – these results prove the point.”
