FTA’s Transport Manager 2009 gets the thumbs-up

8th October 2009 Print
The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has already received a ringing endorsement for the first of its Transport Manager seminars to be held this year. Feedback from seminars in Maidstone, Cwmbran and Warrington reveals that 100 per cent of respondents would attend again.

A particularly well-received session involved the changing role of the transport manager, with 80 per cent of attendees rating this section as ‘excellent’.

Simon Chapman, FTA’s General Manager Information, said: “The recession has squeezed margins ever tighter, so transport managers’ time is at a premium. Earlier in the autumn the latest Traffic Commissioners’ report highlighted the need for transport managers to ‘keep themselves apace of ongoing developments as a key tool in achieving compliance’. Transport Manager 2009 is intended to do just that.”

There are eight seminar locations remaining on the calendar, and the leading trade body is urging transport managers to book now to avoid disappointment.

Ian Coffey, Logistics Manager for MEMS Power Generation, who attended the Maidstone seminar said: “Attendance at one of the annual FTA Transport Manager seminars is set in stone in my diary. The seminar is a template for compliance for the year ahead and beyond. The programme is always relevant and the speakers informative. The seminars are an unmissable opportunity for any operator to gather information to allow planning for the future.”

The seminars also focus on smart ways for transport operators to manage costs. Presentations from truck manufacturer Iveco will demonstrate how the latest developments in commercial vehicle design and technology can be used to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
