Star Trek hero visits Peterborough

Patrick, best known for his role as Star Trek’s Jean-Luc Picard, chatted with directors of Stamford Homes during his recent visit to the city – in his capacity as one of the patrons of the John Clare Trust, where he officially opened a new weather station.
Stamford Homes is building a range of 42 new homes at the Poet’s Corner development on the edge of the village – with the first completions due next Summer.
As part of the planning application, the Peterborough-based new homes builder will contribute more than £300,000 as part of the local authority 106 Agreement to be spent on education and community facilities.
A contribution to the John Clare Trust, which works to maintain the famous local poet’s cottage as a centre of historical and cultural importance, will also be made towards match funding for educational projects at the cottage.
Stamford Homes regional sales and marketing director Peter Bond said: “We were delighted to be invited to the John Clare Cottage and it was a real honour to meet Patrick as well seeing first hand some of the great work being carried out by the Trust.”
