Developer holds afternoon of remembrance for war heroes

Retirement property developer McCarthy & Stone is honouring wounded British servicemen and women, and raising vital funds for charity ‘Help for Heroes’, during an afternoon of remembrance at its Dove Court development in Faringdon this month.

Visitors attending the event, taking place on Thursday 19th November from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, will be able to join in a sing-a-long of old-time classics, sung by Karen Bates, enjoy refreshments and nibbles and enter a raffle to win a unique art piece painted and donated by Dove Court resident Inez Brinsden.

Inez Brinsden explains: “When I heard that the Remembrance Day event was taking place at Dove Court I wanted to do my bit to help such a worthy cause.  I decided to paint something that depicted the great wars of our time; World War I, World War II, today’s war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and other military conflicts, to pay tribute to our servicemen and women in the army, navy and the air force.”

The raffle will be drawn by Brigadier Sean Crane from Shrivenham Staff College and all money raised will go to ‘Help for Heroes’ to support members of the armed forces who have been wounded in the service of our country.
