Willow Grange, David Wilson Retirement Homes’ new development in the historic town of Wantage, has welcomed its first canine resident.

Corky, a charming Chihuahua dog, moved to Willow Grange with owner Aileen Dunne (69) a few weeks ago, and he is already a big hit with residents.

“Corky has charmed everyone he’s met, and he loves his new home,” said Aileen, who relocated to Wantage from Devon. “I actually chose to move here because this development accepts existing pets, and I have lots of friends in the local area.”

Aileen bought a first floor, two-bedroom apartment at Willow Grange and is very pleased with her purchase.

“The design is very good,” she continued. “I have a kitchen with a fridge, freezer and washer/dryer, a bathroom with a shower and a lounge with a small balcony. Corky loves peering through the railings.

“I took advantage of David Wilson’s part exchange deal, which was fantastic. The developer bought my house in Devon, so I didn’t have to worry about estate agents’ fees or finding a buyer. I was able to move within two months and the sales team even arranged all the packing and removals.”

David Wilson aims to provide retired residents with homes that offer independence, security and convenience, and Willow Grange ticks all the boxes for Aileen.

“I value my independence as I like to visit friends and take holidays,” she continued. “However, it’s nice to live here and the 24-hour emergency call service is reassuring should I need any help.

“David Wilson’s retirement homes also come with a video door entry system and a house manager, and it’s really nice to know that my new home will be secure while I’m away.

“The location is really convenient as we are close to the shops,” Aileen added. “Wantage is a very flat town so it’s easy to walk to local amenities and it’s also a very friendly place. As an added bonus, we’re not far from Heathrow, so I won’t have a long journey to the airport when I go on holiday.”

Sales director Louise Ware said: “Willow Grange has been designed for the over fifty-fives, and of course their pets, and offers the perfect lifestyle for the retired, nestling in peaceful, stress-free surroundings but close to the busy market town of Wantage.

“Many residents have moved to be closer to families living in the area, and quite a few are local people who have downsized from a larger property.

“Standard on-site facilities include a guest suite for visiting relatives, a residents’ lounge for social activities and landscaped communal gardens. Buyers don’t have to worry about the upkeep of their property, as the house manager looks after the maintenance of the buildings and grounds,” she concluded.

Willow Grange offers a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments, with prices starting from £139,950 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £200,000 for a two-bedroom home.

The historic town of Wantage, the birthplace of King Alfred the Great, is a hive of activity and annual events include a summer festival of music and arts and a Dickensian evening just before Christmas.
