The luxury five-star Phoenicia Hotel in Malta is now part of the prestigious 2010 Condé Nast Johansens Recommended Hotels & Spas Europe and Mediterranean Guide.

The Condé Nast Guide, now in its 28th year, remains one of the top references for independently-owned hotels and this year the stunning Phoenicia Hotel, set beside Malta’s capital city Valletta, was placed amongst the best selection of accommodation for independent travellers, following a visit from Condé Nast representatives.

Phoenicia Hotel is delighted with the news, which confirms its status as Malta’s leading independent luxury hotel. General Manager, Charles Azzopardi, said: “This is a great opportunity for Malta and the Phoenicia Hotel to market itself within the luxury segment.”

The hotel, which dates back to 1939, was Malta’s first five-star hotel. The resort boasts a fabulous ballroom, where the Queen famously danced in her younger years, along with a range of spa treatment rooms, 128 bedrooms and eight suites featuring a stylish interior and an imposing art deco influence. Phoenicia Hotel guests can also enjoy the award-winning Phoenix restaurant and The Palm Court Lounge for fine dining and the Bastion Pool Deck for a spot of sunbathing.
