RHA welcomes truck parking Action Plan from DfT

The Road Haulage Association welcomes the Department for Transport's announcement of an Action Plan for truck parking.

"There are no easy, quick fix solutions but the announcement gives important profile and commitment to making progress," said RHA Director of Policy Jack Semple.

"Minister Paul Clark's recognition of the current shortage, commitment for the future and emphasis on the need to work actively with local authorities gives the political direction and lead that is needed. The Action Plan identifies how the key challenges can be met.

"The RHA has been working with officials for some time to help develop the Plan - as we have with the providers of truckstop facilities and local councils. We will continue to work with the DfT to promote improved provision of secure truckstops and their use by the industry," said Semple.
