When it comes to home buying, size is everything

A recent survey has shown that newly built homes are considered too small* and for John and Jacqui Scollan, the quest for a spacious newly built home took over two years and hundreds of viewings.

It was not until they saw Countryside Properties’ unique development Cliveden Village, which is located on the National Trust Cliveden Estate, in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, that they finally found the space they craved.

Jacqui, a lawyer, who owns her own conveyancing practice in Ealing, W5, comments: “Having renovated properties all of our lives, John and I were ready for a brand new property which didn’t need any work. We thought finding a perfect newly built home would be easy, but we couldn’t have been more wrong. After two and a half years of viewing different new developments, every property we saw felt cramped, with low ceilings and small rooms. Then we found Cliveden Village which was completely different to anything else we had seen.

“Externally the development has a wonderful sense of space. The properties are widely spaced and the site is surrounded by the stunning grounds of the National Trust Cliveden Estate. The design of the properties is very contemporary but because they are built using natural materials like oak and copper, they fit into the natural countryside surroundings. Inside was even more impressive. All the rooms are large, with high ceilings and the substantial floor to ceiling windows flood the interior space with light. After searching for so long, we finally found our dream home and now we couldn’t be happier.”

Cliveden Village comprises an award winning development of 135 spacious, contemporary two and three bedroom houses and two bedroom apartments, all set within beautifully landscaped grounds which are maintained by National Trust gardeners.

Residents of Cliveden Village are automatically entitled to a year’s membership at The Cliveden Club. Cliveden Club members have free access to the Cliveden Estate grounds during its opening hours, use of the luxurious Pavilion Spa facilities and unrestricted access to the gym, tennis courts, squash courts and exercise classes. Members can also enjoy a full programme of social and cultural events throughout the year, as well as discounts on a range of products from Cliveden Cellar Book wine to a 25% discount on wine and food from the acclaimed Cliveden restaurant.

Sale of these coveted homes are restricted to residents over the age of 55, and purchasers have views into the woodlands of the famous estate and during opening hours, gated access onto the Estate.

Wherever possible, the properties at Cliveden Village are built using materials that are renewable, sustainable or recyclable. Solar hot water installations provide renewable energy to a number of properties and homes are also equipped with low energy external lighting, dual flush toilets and water butts.

Properties are selling fast with only a few 2 bed apartments remaining from £399,950. The marketing suite and show homes are open Thursday to Sunday from 10.00am until 5.00pm and on Monday from 1pm until 5pm.
