Success comes virtually for BMW and BCA
A special ‘virtual’ sale conducted by BCA on behalf of the BMW Group recorded a 100% conversion and generated a turnover of nearly £8.5 million in December.
The Special BMW Virtual Sale took place in London on 10th December and a total of 325 cars were offered from BMW. The cars were stored at BMW's prestige distribution centre at Thorne, where they were pre-sale prepared by BCA. The image of each car was displayed on a 10ft screen as the cars were offered for sale.
The auction took place at the Riverbank Park Plaza where BCA’s auctioneers and 125 plus dealers were gathered. A comprehensive selection of vehicles were offered, including new 7-Series, new Z4 Roadster, New X5, New Mini and an Alpina B7 model.
Every car sold with a 100% success rate that generated £8,478,500 one of the highest value sales for a single vendor in recent years. With an average value in excess of £26,000, this converted to a significant 114.9% of CAP Clean across the board.
Highest price of the day went to a 0909 BMW750i.L Saloon, in Space Grey that sold for £57,200, equivalent to 118% of CAP Clean. The BMW Z4 3.0 35iSDRIVE Roadster models sold strongly, averaging £35,250 or 119% of CAP at 5,000 miles.
The BMW X5 3.0 35D XDRIVE M SPORT Estate realised £43,800 at 6,000 miles, equivalent to 109% of CAP. One of the strongest CAP performances was recorded by the BMW X6 5.0iXDRIVE Coupe, which sold for £47,600 – over £12,000 ahead of CAP clean and equivalent to nearly 135% of CAP at 10,000 miles.
Tony Dean BMW UK Group Remarketing Manager commented “This exceptional event was our biggest single sale turnover this year and achieved the highest values versus CAP and Glass’s Guide that we have seen in 2009. The outstanding success of this sale underlines the desirability of the BMW range and demonstrates the commitment of our dealer network towards used cars.”
BCA’s National Account Manager Simon Young commented "This high profile event saw strong bidding across the BMW model range with an excellent performance against CAP Clean. This clearly reflects the strong retail demand being reported by dealers.”
