Hot air ballooning on safari in Kenya

5th January 2010 Print

Somak Holidays will reward early bookers with a ‘2 for the price of 1’ deal on a hot air ballooning experience in Kenya.

A balloon trip is an optional extra usually costing £265 per person but this will be discounted for bookings made by 31st March 2010.

The offer is valid for two safaris, Cheetah Safari and Ashnil Flying Safari. The balloon flight takes place early one morning towards the end of the holiday at a launch site near Ashnil Mara Camp.

For many this is the highlight of the stay. The experience starts with the inflation of the balloon when you might be called upon to straighten the material or help move the basket. Then positions are taken, safety instructions given, then the ascent into the dawn sky.

For up to an hour the balloon floats serenely over the plains and it is easy to spot animals in clusters.

On landing a lavish breakfast awaits and there is the chance to purchase photographs taken in flight by the pilot.

Safari options:

5* Cheetah Safari from £1,545 per person including return scheduled flights, transfers, safari and 7 nights full board (excluding Nairobi).

5* Ashnil Flying Safari from £1,929 per person including return scheduled flights, transfers, safari and 6 nights full board.

The 2 for 1 offer is valid for new bookings made by 31st March 2010 for travel 12th April to 30th June and 1st November to 7th December 2010.
