Members of Glasgow Restaurateurs’ Association (GRA) are on track to beat their target of serving over 10,000 meals during this year’s Celtic Connections Dinearound 2010.

Whilst the festival has now ended for 2010, the GRA has extended Dinearound until the middle of this month in order to meet demand and allow as many diners as possible the sample the great range of offers available.

This is the third consecutive year that the GRA has supported Celtic Connections by running its Dinearound and member restaurants are already well on their way to topping the 10,000 meals generated in 2009 by the campaign.

Run by the GRA and supported by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, the Dinearound campaign encompasses a range of special offers at over 45 GRA member restaurants, allowing diners in Glasgow to enjoy a three course meal with a glass of wine from as little as £14.95 per person.

With offers valid until the middle of February, the Celtic Connections Dinearound 2010 specifically compliments both festival events and pre-theatre diners and can be accessed at graonline.co.uk and via seeglasgow.com.

Celtic Connections is Europe’s premier winter music festival and during 2010, it ran from 14th-31st January, comprising of 300 concerts, ceilidhs, talks, workshops, free events and late night sessions across 14 venues.

David Maguire, Chief Executive of Glasgow Restaurateurs’ Association, said; “The GRA is the only organisation of its type in the UK and, together with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, we have been delighted to support Celtic Connections through Dinearound. This is the third year that we have been involved with the festival and we expect to top the 10,000 meals generated by our member restaurants compared to last year, as gig-goers gain a growing appreciation of what Glasgow’s dining out scene has to offer.”

He continued; “GRA promotes excellence and innovation across the restaurant scene and how better to do this than to support Celtic Connections, which showcases musicians and performers at the very top of their game.”

Jade Hewat, Celtic Connections Festival Manager, said: “Musicians come to Glasgow from all over the world to take part in Celtic Connections and GRA’s voucher scheme has been a great way for these artists to experience what the city has to offer. We have been delighted to be working with GRA and GCMB to be able to offer this opportunity to musicians and the Dinearound 2010 offers are fantastic for anyone who wants to kick start a great night with a fabulous meal.”

Scott Taylor, Chief Executive, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “Since its inception in 2004, the Dinearound scheme has proved to be very popular with both the participating restaurants and with diners. With the great offers available and increased visitor numbers to Glasgow during the festival, the Celtic Connections Dinearound 2010 is on track to be the most successful yet. We await details of the final number of meals generated by the campaign with keen interest”
