Valentines is just around the corner and what better time to jet off on your first romantic weekend break to Copenhagen.

A romantic trip to Copenhagen can be designed entirely around your own needs. Whether it be a candlelit dinner, a night at the Opera or simply strolling along in a historic, yet bustling city that ticks your box for romance - in Copenhagen, you will fall in love all over again…

Copenhagen offers a broad selection of restaurants, which make an effort to create a romantic atmosphere and intimate setting. One such venue is the classy Alberto K restaurant, which offers the perfect setting for a romantic night out with your better half. Located on the 20th floor at the world’s first 5-star designer hotel, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Copenhagen, you won’t find a better place to enjoy great food, great company and great panoramic views of Copenhagen by night.

A night at The Opera in Copenhagen is another quintessential romantic experience you would not want to miss even if you’re not a lover of opera itself. Any opera is an experience, but this one is drawn by Danish architect Henning Larsen and is an experience in a league of its own. Just as darkness falls, you can catch a glimpse of the city lights from the Opera's balcony on the 4th floor - make sure to get your opera tickets in advance to ensure you do not miss out.

A romantic sightseeing tour in Copenhagen should begin at the Thorvaldsen Museum built in memory of the great Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen and with all his works and private art collection on display. Begin at the sculpture of Cupid and Psyche, portraying the God of erotic love and beauty. From here head to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, founded by the Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen. Jacobsen created one of the largest private art collections of his time, and the museum houses one of the most extensive collections of sculptures, Danish, French and ancient art.

It’s beautiful Winter Garden, also drawn by Danish architect Henning Larsen for the French paintings, provides a very romantic setting for a great art experience combined with even better cakes. By now, it might be time for some serious shopping on Europe’s longest pedestrian street - the “Stroget” or a nice stroll along the city’s scenic canals in Nyhavn, past Amalienborg Palace and onwards to the Little Mermaid at Langeline.

For a romantic place to stay, the 4-star deluxe hotel Nyhavn 71, a beautifully converted and listed warehouse at the Copenhagen waterfront, is a great choice. Many of the hotel’s rooms offer unique views of the old harbour area as well as the city’s impressive Royal Playhouse and Opera House.

Nyhavn 71 is part of the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group which at present runs the following offer: Book a double room and get a 190 DKK dinner voucher per person, per night for any of the hotel chains’ restaurants. The offer is limited to 9 out of Arp-Hansen’s 10 hotels in Copenhagen and runs until 30th April 2010. See arp-hansen.com/special_offers/room_dinner/ for more details.

You might also get lucky and win a romantic trip to Copenhagen with Norwegian airlines with a stay at one of the Arp-Hansen hotels. All you have to do is to meet the VisitDenmark and Norwegian staff on February 11th 2010 at either London Bridge or Charing Cross tube station and hear more about their “Love is in the Air” competition!
