More Ryanair sun flights from Glasgow Prestwick

16th February 2010 Print

Glasgow Prestwick’s leading role as Scotland’s low-cost gateway to top European hotspots has been boosted with extra Ryanair flights to five fantastic destinations.

The busy airport already has low-cost flights to Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Carcassonne.

But from May, Europe’s largest low fares airline has added extra flights on all five popular routes.

That means Malaga now has seven low-cost flights a week, Alicante six flights a week, Palma seven flights a week, Faro six flights a week and Carcassonne goes to three flights a week.

Ryanair now has six aircraft based at Prestwick serving twenty-nine attractive European routes that stretch from Sweden in the north to the Canary Islands in the south, and from Londonderry in the west to Hungary in the east.

Glasgow Prestwick Chief Executive Iain Cochrane said: “This is more excellent news for the airport. As well as these welcome extra services, we have new Ryanair routes starting to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and Ibiza next month, plus summer flights to Jersey and Turkey with other airlines.

“This means that Glasgow Prestwick is number one for sun-seeking Scots this spring and summer and, together, Glasgow Prestwick and Ryanair provide fares and punctual, reliable flights at prices unrivalled in the Scottish market.”
