Redrow contractor finds his ideal home in Horwich

Peering over the garden fence gave Redrow contractor Joe McKay plenty of opportunities to find his ideal home.
Joe, who runs his own fencing company in Charnock Richard, has fencing contracts at Redrow developments throughout the North West, including Arcon Village, in Horwich, where he has just purchased a new home.
This historic venture in Horwich has been transformed by Redrow from an 18th Century bleachworks into a breath-taking homes development - and 26-year-old Joe fell instantly in love with the homes.
Bowled over by the concept of owning an historic property with a contemporary interior, Joe decided to make Arcon Village his first home and has purchased a three-bedroom property with his girlfriend Marie.
He comments: “I felt it was time to leave my parents and find a home for Marie and me. I originally toyed with the idea of buying a run-down home and renovating it but it would have been difficult with the long hours I work.
“While working at ArconVillage I saw the benefits of the site. A lot of the homes are refurbished old buildings with an interesting history so I was getting a home with lots of character but without having to undertake costly and time-consuming renovations.
“The properties have modern interiors that are completed to a high standard, meaning we could move in right away with no messing around.”
It seems Joe’s not the only one of his family who is a fan of Redrow; his older brother Robert, 28, has just moved into a brand new home at Hallwood Gardens, in Chorley.
Joe says: “Robert decided Hallwood Gardens was a good choice because of its location close to his work in Chorley and the fact he could just move in.”
Meanwhile, Joe’s preferred location of Arcon Village is just a short distance from Horwich town centre and all its amenities, including a selection of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes.
The appeal of Arcon Village has been recognised as winner of the ‘best residential conversion’ category in the 2009 LABC North West Building Excellence Awards, which are dedicated to showcasing the best the region’s construction industry has to offer.
The surrounding landscape offers plenty for the country lover and avid walker, including the lush slopes of Winter Hill, Scotsman’s Stump, Rivington Park and Lord Leverhulme’s Gardens.
Current availability at Arcon Village includes a number of two and three-bedroom homes with prices from £139,995.
