As interest rates remain low, increasing numbers of people are venturing into property investment for the first time, as they decide that putting their money into property is a better long-term bet than leaving it in a bank account.

Stella Richards, from Surrey, decided that she would rather put her money into bricks and mortar than earn minimal amounts of interest in the bank and purchased a one bedroom apartment at AQ, Crest Nicholson Regeneration’s multi-award winning development in Portsmouth.

Stella comments: “Having become increasingly frustrated with the low interest rate from the bank, I had been thinking about investing my money in property for a while, but I was quite nervous as it’s such a big commitment as a first-time investor. I had looked at a few properties at auction, but didn’t really feel confident about the purchasing process, therefore I decided to look on the internet at developments in Portsmouth where my son, an Officer in the Royal Navy, is based when he’s not at sea. As soon as I found AQ I was sure it was the perfect investment.

“When I visited the development I was really impressed by what I saw – it was so much better than anything else I had looked at. The sales team were brilliant and showed me several different apartments, as it was such a big decision for me that I wanted to be sure I picked the right one. In the end I decided on a spacious one bedroom apartment which will be perfect for me to use when I come down to visit my son. The apartment has a parking space which is a real bonus and it feels really secure as part of the development which is reassuring for me as it’s my first investment property.

“The whole buying process was made really easy and was far less daunting than if I’d bought through auction as I had originally planned. Portsmouth is an up-and-coming town, with lots going on, so I’m confident that I have made a sound investment for the future and that I am better off buying property than having my money in the bank.”

Located at the heart of Portsmouth, AQ consists of 17 individual apartment blocks ranging from four to eight storeys. At its heart is a private courtyard garden of nearly an acre which conceals underground parking for residents. The 22 storey Admiralty Tower provides stunning views of the harbour and gives Portsmouth a spectacular new landmark.

AQ is also well connected, with train services out of Portsmouth Harbour station, just a few minutes walk away, providing high-speed links into London Waterloo in an hour and a half, and mainland Europe just a ferry-ride away.

Prices for a one bedroom apartment start at £139,000 and from £185,000 for a two bedroom apartment. For more information, visit: admiralty-quarter.co.uk
