Taylor Wimpey is introducing a fantastic new incentive to its exciting new Academy Central development in Barking – giving smart investors the chance to help family or friends on to the property ladder for a generous guaranteed return.

Through Family and Friends Advantage*, individuals contributing a deposit of up to 20% of the price of an Academy Central home to help a friend or relation will receive an attractive return on their investment of 5% per annum for five years.

For example, a £26,000 deposit on a one-bedroom apartment priced at just £129,995 would guarantee a return of £1,300 each year and a total of £6,500 over the five-year period – that’s a quarter of the overall investment amount.

Michael O’Leary, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “With interest rates held at the record low level of 0.5% by the Bank of England, this incredible scheme offers a fantastic alternative investment opportunity for anyone who wants their money to work harder than just sitting in their bank account.

“Not only does it provide a unique chance to help family or friends purchase a brand new home they might otherwise struggle to afford, but it also earns the investor a significant guaranteed return in the process.”

Family and Friends Advantage is being supported by a variety of mortgage lenders, including the Halifax, which is offering an exclusive range of fixed and tracker mortgages with an 80% loan-to-value rate to qualifying Taylor Wimpey customers purchasing selected plots*.

The initiative is available on selected new homes at Academy Central, where stylish one-bedroom apartments are priced from just £129,995 and two-bedroom apartments are priced from only £159,995.

Three-bedroom apartments are also available at the development from as little as £194,995, while spacious three-bedroom ‘Quill’ houses start at just £234,995 and four-bedroom ‘Turner’ townhouses are priced from only £259,995.

Most new properties at Academy Central include allocated parking and each home is completed to a high standard specification, with central district heating, double glazing and fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood.

Homes at the development are also designed to be up to 25% more energy efficient than properties built just three years ago. Plus, the majority of homes feature ‘green roofs’ which help improve air quality, provide natural insulation and promote bio-diversity.

Hand-in-hand with the development, Taylor Wimpey and joint venture partner L&Q are investing millions in community facilities in Barking, including the creation of a new primary school and play facilities, adult education and training.

Located off Longbridge Road, stretching across to Mayesbrook Park and bounded by Lodge Avenue, the area has great opportunities for work and leisure, with Vicarage Field, The Mall and Exchange Mall shopping centres all within easy reach.

A choice of health and fitness centres is also located nearby, while Mayesbrook Park provides acres of green space on the doorstep, including football pitches, tennis and basketball courts, lakes and children’s playgrounds.

Goodmayes Railway Station is within walking distance of the development, offering regular services to London’s Liverpool Street in just over 20 minutes and to Stratford, home of the 2012 games, in approximately 13 minutes.
