3 UK launched In Car Wi-Fi at The Gadget Show, Birmingham.  The compact modem is based on 3’s popular MiFi device giving you a Wi-Fi internet connection in your car.

In Car Wi-Fi connects over the 3G network  to create a personal Wi-Fi hotspot so passengers can connect to the internet on a range of Wi-Fi enabled devices like an iPod Touch, Nintendo DSi XL and Netbook, all without the need for wires or a USB connection.

David Kerrigan, Head of Internet Services at 3 UK says “We’re always looking at new products and services that connect our customers in more place both at home and on the move and In Car Wi-Fi does this. Our research suggests that over 25% of the population are interested in having the internet in their cars, with families and travelling work colleagues showing the most interest. Mobile workers can check traffic information and email on route to a meeting and kids can social network or download tracks to an iPod Touch while on a road trip”

Setting up In Car Wi-Fi is simple. Just switch on the Mi- Fi device, connect your iPod Touch, Nintendo DSI XL or Netbook, put in the eight digit network key and you’re connected to the internet.

Priced at £59.99 the In Car Wi-Fi kit includes

Mi-Fi Huawei wireless modem
Mains charger
In car charger
Windscreen holder
1GB data that lasts up to 30 days.
