Tim Farr – From amateur skier to Paralympian

23rd April 2010 Print

In March 2004, whilst on a university skiing trip to France, Tim Farr suffered a terrible injury. Being told you won’t ever walk again is something none of us want to hear and it’s hard to tell how we would react. For Tim though, the answer was simple - recover and get back on the slopes as soon as possible.

That determination to enjoy the sport he loves and unwillingness to make excuses, or have people make excuses for him, resulted in Tim representing Great Britain at the Paralympics in Vancouver. Tim’s incredibly positive outlook to life has even had him refer to his injury as a blessing in disguise, since he expects he may have been heading for a desk job before the accident.

Tim is now one of the top disabled skiers in the world and with one Paralympic games under his belt, has already started to focus on the 2014 games in Russia.

In the following video Tim explains his journey from amateur skier to proud Paralympian and gives tips for people looking to get into any level of sport, able-bodied or not, through support programmes like the Mars Refuel Drink Fund.

Thousands of amateur sporting individuals and teams have benefited since the Mars Refuel Drink Fund first launched and applying is easy, just log onto marsrefuel.com before May and follow the instructions.
